BACKGROUND
Sophie Select is a Manhattan retailer of high quality, semi-custom invitations and announcements. Sophie Select was founded in late 2006 as a division of Sophie Says, an online retailer of stationery and personalized gift items. Both companies are owned and managed by Leah Furst Alani. HOW WE WORK
Sophie Select believes that each and every client deserves individualized attention when selecting the perfect invitation or announcement for their special occasion. At Sophie Select each client meets with Leah, our Founder and Chief Invitation Specialist, and works directly with her throughout the entire process of selecting, purchasing and receiving their paper products. All appointments take place at the serene Sophie Select studio in Manhattan’s West Village (Click here for location details.) We schedule at least an hour and a half for all first appointments and never schedule more than one client at a time; this allows plenty of dedicated time for each client to get close to a decision. After the initial one-on-one consultation, we can work with clients over the phone and email to complete the process, however most clients choose to come back for further in person appointments.

Sophie Select carries an evolving collection of paper brands from the finest manufacturers across the US. We carry many well known paper manufacturers as well as many newer and more innovative brands that have limited distribution. We are constantly looking to add new manufacturers to keep our selection fresh and up-to-date. Please click here to see the brands we currently feature. Sophie Select also works directly with some of Manhattan’s finest hand and machine calligraphers.
WEDDING INVITATION SELECTION PROCESS
Engaged couples have their first appointment at the Sophie Select studio anywhere from three to nine months before their wedding date. After discussing the details of the wedding: colors, dress code, location, time of year, theme etc., Leah shows the couple a series of examples of semi-custom work that Sophie Select has done in the past. This allows us to get a feel for the look and style that appeals to the couple. Then the couple dives into several books of detailed samples and begins the process of narrowing the selections of invitations. Many wedding couples come back several times through out their engagement to finalize invitation details and/or to select other wedding related items including place-cards, table numbers, programs, hotel welcome baskets, and wedding party gifts. BABY ANNOUNCEMENT SELECTION PROCESS
We encourage expecting parents to come in during their pregnancy to narrow down selections for birth announcements before the baby arrives. If you are not finding out the gender of the baby before birth, simply choose a boy and a girl announcement. Then call us when the baby arrives with the date, gender, weight and length and your announcement will go directly into print. Many of our baby announcement manufacturers will ship envelopes directly to the new Mom and Dad ahead of time so your envelopes can be addressed before the baby consumes all your waking hours!
